Movie Description
Take a thrilling look at the world of skydiving and base jumping - parachuting from a building, a bridge or a cliff. With breathtaking views of skydiving over the Florida Keys, the Mojave Desert and the magnificent Fjords of Norway, this giant-screen experience explores the psychological and physiological forces behind risk-tasking and the physics involved in high-risk activities. The film follows two top risk-takers, Adrian Nicholas and Katarina Ollikainen, as they try to fly the first parachute ever designed as imagined in 1485 by Leonardo da Vinci. Thanks to a camera strapped to one of the professional jumpers who took part in the film, you can also live through a 4,265-foot jump from a legendary Norwegian cliff. Exhibited in IMAX and other giant-screen theatres around the world, this film has been specially mixed and mastered to produce an outstanding DTS Digital Surround and Dolby Digital 5.1 home theatre experience. Disc 2 includes the complete feature in Microsoft Windows Media High Definition, playable on your PC.
Mike Dags' review really hit the nail on the head. This video contains beautiful film work and script, although it isn't consistent throughout the video. The freefall videos taken from stationary cameras with telescopic zoom is really awesome. With all our familiar perspectives being relative, it is easy to forget "what is really going on". I suspect the majority of us that own this video are already jumpers, so the video may not be telling us "anything we don't already know", but the message goes far beyond just jumping in itself. I picked up a copy of this video for a wuffo friend who is trying to escape from a lot negative risk taking behaviors such as hard drugs (heroin). Hopefully, this video will help inspire this friend into positive calculated-risk behaviors that will lead to a better life. Time will only tell.

I first saw this movie at an IMAX theatre at the AIr & Space Museum in DC. I loved it then and I love it now too. It touches on some of the science involved in risk and also has gorgeous shots of different jumps. I recommend it to all of my friends and bought it just so I could show it to everybody.

I give this four stars simply because the sky-diving and base jumping shots are awesome. Loved those. Didn't care much for the scientific explanations behind adrenaline junkies...really wanted more IMAX photography of the jumps themselves. Overall tho, v. cool.

Okay I am new to the sport of skydiving and eventually I will get into BASE jumping, but watching this DVD gave me the chills. Absolutely amazing. The IMAX footage could not be better. Even if you have the slightest interest in BASE jumping or skydiving BUY THIS DVD! It's worth every penny.
Being the first WMVHD content disc I've purchased, I can't speak to how it might compare with other titles out there in this format, but it didn't disappoint and in fact it has inspired me to get back into skydiving. I did find it to be a little short in running time especially considering the little 'history of Adrenaline' segment which wasn't in keeping with the rest of the content. It's for these two reasons that I didn't give it a five star rating, but if you're after HD program content to play on your computer, and you don't suffer from vertigo, then this is an excellent choice.
